85, Pierre Corneille
The former GACON garage, a typical building of Lyon's car garage architecture, has recently turned a new page in its secular history.
Rehabilitating a car garage that is more than 100 years old, and transforming it into a mixed building of productive activity and offices, such was the project of 85 Pierre Corneille led by the SOGELYM DIXENCE teams, experienced in the major restructuring of atypical buildings.
The generosity of the spaces and the constructive quality of this site were an ideal support for its rehabilitation with a change of use.
This project was designed with the dual objective of creating a contemporary architecture reinterpreting the history of the building and having a successful environmental approach.
Thus, the site, which benefits from a privileged address in the heart of Lyon, on the left bank of the Rhône, between the Presqu'île and the Part-Dieu, is one of the remarkable operations of the Charter of Urban, Architectural, Landscape and Environmental Quality of the City of Lyon. Labelling, heritage enhancement, bio-sourced materials, energy performance, biodiversity/greening and qualities of use, these are the architectural devices that have been praised by this Charter.
